TAXATION
Corporate Income Tax: The corporate income tax rate is 5.5 percent
and the first $5,000 is exempt.
Property Tax: Property tax within
the 44-square block central business district is $25.36 per $1,000
assessed value. (1999 reference data)
Sales and Use Tax: 7.5 percent of
the total price on retail or sales of tangible personal property;
no sales tax on groceries or medicine.
LABOR
The Pensacola area offers a steady pool of skilled labor, thanks
in part to the large number of military personnel and military
retirees living in the area. The unemployment rate for Escambia
and Santa Rosa counties has averaged about 4% in the first half
of 2001.
TRANSPORTATION
Air:
Pensacola
Regional Airport is served by seven airlines: AirTran,
Comair, Continental
Airlines, Delta
Air Lines, Northwest
Airlink, and US
Airways and US Airways Express. Each of these airlines provides
direct flights to various cities along the southeast with a total
of 44 flights per day. For airfreight delivery each of the following
airlines provides cargo service: Continental
Airlines, Delta
Air Lines, Northwest
Airlink, and US
Airways. Airport is within 10 minutes of facility.
Rail Service:
Three
major rail services serve the Pensacola MSA. CSX
Transportation and States
Rail - Alabama Gulf Coast Railway provide container shipping,
intermodal and logistic services for business needs. In addition,
the Alabama Gulf Coast Railway provides a connecting service to
Burlington Northern
Sante Fe Railroad for northbound cargo. PSMC has an active
private spur that connects to Alabama Gulf Coast Railway on the
property. Pensacola has access to Amtrak
(national
rail map).
Roads & Highways:
Interstate 10, which is linked to the inner city via I-110, is
a national thoroughfare from Jacksonville, Florida to Los Angeles.
U.S. highways 29 (north to south) and 90 and 98 (east to west)
pass through the community. Interstate 65 is tied to the area’s
north-south system 55 miles from Pensacola. State and county roads
carry traffic east to other Florida counties, north and west to
portions of Alabama. (It is approximately 55 miles from Pensacola
to Mobile and 200 miles from Pensacola to Tallahassee.)
Inbound Markets:
Atlanta, Nashville, Charlotte, Greenville-Spartanburg and New
Orleans.
Outbound Markets:
Latin America, Mexico and the Caribbean.

Barge Service:
Over 4,100 feet of bulkhead with 12-15 foot draft, currently serviced
by all major barge lines. On load/off load barge service available.

M-2 Heavy Industrial Zone for the entire Pensacola Marine Complex
layout. ID2 zoning for warehouse and grounds located in
Escambia County.
PORT OF PENSACOLA

The Port of Pensacola is Northwest Florida's leading deep-water
port. Its close proximity to PSMC allow as a mutual marine use
for varying cargoes. On its 50 acres, covered warehouse space
in addition to outdoor staging areas are available for lease or
transitory use. On-dock rail, served by CSX and BNSF and truck
queuing areas provide easy inland access. The Port can accommodate
ocean-going vessels with drafts up to 33 feet MLW and it offers
